Katavi National park lies south east of the Mahale Mountains National park, the park has a surface of 4500 square km, and it is Tanzania's third largest wild park. The park characterizes itself by the large variety of landscapes, with grass plains in the north, tropical rain forests in the west and middle of the park, and rivers and lakes in the east. Katavi is famous of its large herds of buffalos, crocodiles and hippopotamuses, furthermore you can see; giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, leopards, lions and elephants. And the park has more than 400 types of different bird species.
